Two held with 94 kg hemp in Bagerhat

An operational team of Narcotics Control Department (DNC) in a drive arrested two alleged drug peddlers along with 94 kilograms of hemp, 1,520 pieces of Yaba pills and 33 bottles of Phensedyl from Fakirhat upazila in Bagerhat district on Wednesday evening.

The arrested are Md Foysal Hossain, 23, and Sohel Mia, 26, both residents of Tikikata village under Mathbaria upazila in Pirojpur district.

According to the Narcotics Control Department in Khulna, acting on a tip-off, an operational team of the department, led by Additional Director of the department Md Ahsanur Rahman, conducted a raid in a house at Lakhpur area in the upazila and arrested the duo along with the drugs, however, another cohort of them managed to flee the scene.

At that time, they also seized a motorbike from their possession which was used to smuggle the drugs.

During primary questioning, the arrested duo confessed that they used to smuggle the drugs for a long time.

A case was filed with Fakirhat Model Police Station against them under Narcotics Control Act and later, they were sent to jail following a court order, added the DNC official Md Ahsanur Rahman.
