Two held with 2,850 Yaba tablets at Dhaka airport

Security personnel detained two men with 2,850 pieces of yaba tablet in the domestic terminal area of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Monday, reports BSS. 

The arrested men were identified as Mohammad Jamiul Islam, 21, hailed from Qazir Ballabadi village under Saltha thana in Faridpur district and Mohammad Arif Shikdar, 23, from Khayerhat village under Kasiani thana in Gopalganj district.

Both the detainees are the students of Faridpur Polytechnic Institute, said Alamgir Hossain Shimul, additional superintendent (ops and media) of Armed Police Battalion (APBn).

He said members of APBn rounded up them while they were suspiciously walking at the car parking zone adjacent to the domestic terminal at around 3 pm on Monday. Later, they recovered the pills from their possession, he added.

During primary interrogation, they admitted that they had arrived here from Cox’s Bazar on a flight of NOVOAIR carrying those yaba tablets worth about Taka 14 lakh.A case was filed in this regard under Narcotics Control Act with airport police station.
