Police arrested two alleged cyber criminals in connection with circulating fake indecent video clips of Awami League backed parliamentarian Pankaj Debnath. According to the Media and Public Relations Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, based on a secret information, a unit of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) nabbed them from Joypurhat district.
They were identified as Md Aman Hossain Shipon, 23 and Md Mesbahol Islam alias Mesbah, 27. CTTC also seized three mobile phone sets from their possession on Thursday night. “The arrested criminals had circulated fake indecent video clips of Pankaj Debnath, who is the ruling party-backed parliamentarian in Barishal-4 constituency, to tarnish his political and social images,” CTTC officials said.
They were posting the fake clips using fake accounts in different social networking sites. After receiving the complain, the CTTC unit started monitoring the fake accounts and arrested the criminals. Earlier, a case under Digital Security Act was filed with Dhanmondhi Police Station. The arrested were produced before a Dhaka Court with a seven-day remand plea. However, the court, granted three-day remand for grilling them in police custody.
