Two groups of Chhatra League have stood in confrontation for torturing two students at the Mozaharuddin Biswas Degree College campus in Kalapara, Patuakhali.

When some tension spread in the campus due to this incident, Kalapara police calmed down the atmosphere by taking position on the campus.

Hasanuzzaman Ami Gazi, general secretary of the college’s Chhatra League, held a press conference in front of the college student auditorium at 10 am on Sunday.  He claimed at the press conference that the college’s Chhatra League president was destabilizing the campus with outsiders, hampering the learning environment.  Organizational measures will be taken as per the instructions of league to identify those involved in the attack on the two students on Saturday. At the same time, he requested the college administration to reset the learning environment in the college. At the same time, he requested the administration not to harass any innocent student in the incident of student torture.

On the other hand, the Chhatra League president group has organized a human chain in front of the administrative building of the college demanding punishment for those involved in the attack on innocent students.

Asaduzzaman Hiron, president of Manabbandhan College BCL, said students are unsafe on campus today. They demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the attack. At the same time, he demanded the college administration to immediately investigate and expel those involved in the attack from the college.

Meanwhile, ordinary students complained innocent students are being harassed in various ways. In the latest incident of beating of two students, one group is accusing the other group in the name of innocent students. They are getting scared.

College principal Abdus Salam Hawlader said police had been notified of the attack on campus. Although the two groups held separate programs today, neither party took permission from the college administration. The current situation is destroying the learning environment. Attendance of students has decreased. However, those involved in the attack will be identified and expelled from the college.

Officer-in-charge of Kalapara police station Mohammad Jasim said neither side had lodged a complaint with the police station regarding the attack on the two students. The situation is calm at present after the police took position on the campus after receiving the news that the two groups of the BCL were holding a reciprocal program this morning.

Chhatra League activists beat and injured Dwipraj and Tamim, the president of the honors branch of Chhatra League, on Saturday afternoon due to an internal quarrel. The two injured students are currently undergoing treatment at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

The students alleged that the attack took place due to the dominance of the college student league president and general secretary group on the campus and the two leaders' position in the upazila committee.
