Two get life in Kishoreganj murder case

Two housewives were sentenced to lifetime imprisonment in connection with a murder in Hossainpur upazila of Kishoreganj district in 2016. 

The convicts have been identified as Rekha Akhter and Hamida Begum from Madhya Gobindpur village of the upazila.

Kishoreganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahim pronounced the verdict in the presence of the convicts on Sunday.

The court also fine each of them Tk 50,000 in default to suffer 6 more months in jail.

According to the case details, the accused got into a fight with Kamala Begum over a trifle matter in Madhya Gobindpur village of Hossainpur upazila on March 24, 2016.

At one stage, Kamala Begum's father Kashum Ali came to the rescue her daughter, the accused beat Kashum with stick that left him dead.

Following the incident, Kamala Begum filed a murder case against three persons at Hossainpur Police Station.

APP Jiban Kumar Roy stood on behalf of state in the court and Advocate Nur Mohammad for the convicts.
