Two fined for extracting soil form Bhairab river

A mobile court has fined two persons Tk 1 lakh for illegally extracting and selling Bhairab river soil in Jibonnagar Upazila on Wednesday.The mobile court collected the fine by conducting a drive in the Boalmari field of Payaratla village in Manoharpur union under the upazila.

Jibannagar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Tithi Mitra conducted the mobile court.

According to the mobile court sources, the mobile court conducted a drive in Boalmari field of Payaratla village of Jibannagar Upazila on Wednesday around 12:30 pm based on secret information. At that time, the mobile court found the fact of illegally extracting soil from Bhairav river and selling it to brick kilns. 

Land owner Md Jasim Uddin was fined Tk 50 and Bablur Rahman, son of Rabiul Islam of Manoharpur village, the owner of the tractor, was fined Tk 50 under the same section for the offence of illegally extracting soil from Bhairab river and selling it to brick kilns. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Tithi Mitra said that due to illegal mining, extraction and sale of soil from Bhairad river are unabated. 

various irregularities were found under Balumhal and Sand Management Act and Local Government (Union Parishad Act) 98(3) and 89(2) of 2009) Section.

He also said that the operation of the mobile court drive will continue to protect agriculture land.
