Two films withdrawn from Eid-ul-Azha release lineup

Ahead of this year’s Eid-ul-Azha, around 12 films were scheduled for release. However, just a week before the festival, two of those films have officially withdrawn from the lineup — Nadan directed by Farhad Hossain and Shironaam directed by Anik Biswas.

The first-look poster of Shironaam was unveiled on May 21, with an announcement for an Eid release. The poster created quite a buzz as actor Nirab Hossain appeared in a bold new look, with long hair, sunglasses, chains, and a black jacket. His character in the film is named Ibrahim. But with some portions of the shooting still incomplete, the makers decided to postpone the release.

Nirab confirmed the decision in a statement to a newspaper. “When we announced the release, there were still five or six days of shooting left. We could have rushed it, but didn’t want to compromise. Shironaam has a powerful story, and we want to deliver a complete, polished film to our audience,” he said. The film features Eamin Haque Bobby opposite Nirab, alongside Omar Sani, Salahuddin Lavlu, Shatabdi Wadud, Kachi Khandaker, Farzana Chobi, and Dilruba Doyel.

On the other hand, Nadan has also stepped back from the Eid race due to technical issues. Actor Shamol Mawla shared the news through social media. “With a heavy heart,

I share that Nadan won’t be released this Eid because of some technical problems. I’m grateful for all the love we received after releasing the poster and hope for the same when the film is ready,” he wrote.

Nadan marks the directorial debut of Farhad Hossain. The film stars Sayma Smrity, Rakib Hossain Evan, Arfan Mredha Shiblu, Saif Khan, and Jewel Jahur.
