Two-day musical show underway at Chhayanaut

Bengal Foundation has organised a two-day musical programme titled ‘Gaaner Jharnatalay’ at the Chhayanaut Auditorium in Dhanmondi of the capital.

The first day of the programme was dedicated to Subir Nandi. In memory of late iconic singer, eminent music director-composer Sujeyo Shyam and singer Sadia Afrin discussed at the event yesterday.

Subir spent his childhood in Dhaka and Kolkata. He recorded his first song in 1972. The song was written by Mohammed Muzakker and composed by Ustad Mir Kasem. Since then, he sang notable songs like ‘Tumi Emoni Jaal Petecho Shongshare’, ‘Amar Ei Duti Chokh Pathor To Noi’, ‘Ek Je Chilo Sonar Konna’, and ‘O Amar Ural Ponkhire’, among others. Subir Nandi died in a Singapore hospital on May 7 this year at the age of 66.

Besides, singer Priyanka Gope and young singer Jarif Ekram and Oisarja Samaddar rendered Nazrul Sangeet at the event.

Today, on the second day, National Rabindra Sangeet Sammilan Parishad (Dhaka Mahanagar) will present monsoon songs of Pancha Kabi, at the same venue.
