A two-day long 'Indigenous Food and Crop Fair-2025' is going to be held in the capital city of Dhaka on November 21 and 22 (Friday and Saturday) on the premises of Parbatya Buddhist Sangha Complex in Mirpur-13 area.
Under the joint initiative of development organization Nagorik Udyog and Adivasi Suhridar, the fair is being organised to introduce the citizens to the diverse and rich crops of the Indigenous food and culture.
On behalf of the organisers, Mainthin Pramila said that many entrepreneurs from the plain land; Mandi, Manipuri, Santal and Rakhines, as well as from the hilly regions, are participating in the fair. Various popular dishes made of without oil and spices, which are traditional dishes of the Indigenous community people.
In addition, the popular bamboo shoots of the hills and various types of Hebang cooked in banana leaves will be available there. Various other delicious dishes of Jumia vegetables, including mountain chicken and fish from Kaptai Lake will also be available there.
The special attraction of the fair will be mountain bamboo hookahs, as well as various types of fresh fruit pickles and a variety of binni rice, including Kala Binni.
As part of the fair, delightful Indigenous cultural evening will also held in every day. Bangladesh Idol Mong, popular mountain singer Jolipru Marma, Samantar Chakma, Kulin Chakma and emerging Garo singer Marcus Chisim will entertain the audience. There will also be traditional dance performances by indeginious community people of the hills and plain lands. The fair venue can be reached in just 5 minutes by rickshaw from Metrorail Mirpur-10 station.
