Two-day IEEE intel. conference concludes at Islamic University

The two-day second IEEE International Conference on Computing, Applications and Systems (COMPAS 2025) concluded on Friday at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia. The conference, which began on Thursday, brought together researchers and academics from around the world.

The first day’s sessions were held at the Bir Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman Central Auditorium and the Ibn Sina Science Building, while the second day’s events took place at the Ibn Sina Science Building and Desha TARc in Kushtia. The event was organized by the IEEE Computer Society Bangladesh Chapter in collaboration with IU’s Central Laboratory, Department of ICT, and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

The main technical tracks included Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Quantum Computing, Network Security, Data Analytics, Computer Vision, and Algorithms. Out of 790 submitted papers, 264 were selected for presentation, contributed by 518 authors from 250 universities and research institutes across 26 countries.

The event was held in hybrid mode, allowing both in-person and virtual participation. IU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah served as chief patron, while Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Yeakub Ali and Treasurer Prof Dr Jahangir Alam acted as patrons.

Keynote speakers included Assoc Prof Dr Syed Mohammad Shamsul Islam of Edith Cowan University, Australia; Prof Dr Tariq Rahim Soomro, Rector of the Institute of Business Management, Karachi, Pakistan; Prof Dr M Mustafa Hussain of Purdue University, USA; and Prof Dr Abdur Razzaque, Chair of the CSE Department, University of Dhaka.

The conference was led by General Chairs Prof Dr K M Azharul Hasan and Prof Dr Ahsan Habib Tarek, with TPC Chairs Prof Dr M Obaidur Rahman and Prof Dr Mashiul Haque, and Organizing Chair Prof Dr Zahidul Islam, Director of IU Central Laboratory.

Technical support came from the IEEE IU Student Branch, IEEE Computer Society IU Student Chapter, IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society IU Student Chapter, and the Students’ Association of ICT (SAICT). “COMPAS 2025 is a landmark event for Islamic University,” said Prof Dr Zahidul Islam. “For the first time in IU’s history, we have hosted a full-scale international conference of this magnitude.

It reflects our growing engagement with the global research community and will serve as a platform for knowledge exchange and innovation.” Keynote speaker Prof Dr Abdur Razzaque stressed the importance of research and skill development, saying, “In this era of science and technology, rapid changes in computer science make research essential, especially as artificial intelligence reshapes the future.”

IU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah expressed his gratitude to the organizers, saying the conference marked “a milestone in the university’s academic journey” and would “enhance IU’s global collaboration in science and technology.”
