Two-day Dewlee Utsab begins at Durgapur

The two-day long Dewlee Utsab-2019 began on the premises of Birishiri Tribal Cultural Academy at Durgapur upazila in Netrakona. The tribal community of Durgapur and Kalmakanda upazilas organised their traditional Hajon Gethering and Dewlee Utsab which begins from Sunday.

Kabboysree Kazi Rozi, a former MP, formally inaugurated the traditional Dewlee Utsab at Birishiri Sunday noon..

Ashim Kumar Ukil MP, Central Cultural Secretary of Awami League, was present at the function as the chief guest.

M Mayeenul Islam, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Netrakona, presided over the function, while it was addressed, among others, Ashit Sarker Sajal, member of district Awami League, Zannatu Ferdous Juma Talukder, chairman of Durgapur Upazila Parishad, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M Tufayel Ahmed, Assistant Police Super (Durgapur circle) M Saidur Rahman, freedom fighter and UZ AL president Alauddin Al Azad, general secretary Sazzadur Rahman Sazzad, Sharobindo Sarker Swapon Hajong, director of the academy, and poet Sujan Hajong, tribal researcher Monindra Nath Marak, tribal leader Paltan Hajong and Swapna Hajong.

In his speech, Ashim Kumar Ukil said, “Our country has been progressing day after day under the dynamic leadership of our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who earlier declared “Zero Tolerance” policy against Corruption, terrorism, drug abuse and militancy.”
