Two-day Climate Justice Assembly 2023 begins in Dhaka today

A two-day ‘Climate Justice Assembly-2023’ is going to begin in Dhaka today (Friday).  

  The event will take place on November 17 and 18 at Stamford University on Siddheswari Road in the city. 

The ‘Climate Justice Assembly-2023’ will begin through a colourful procession at 9:00 am. Later, the inaugural session will be held on the campus of Stamford University Bangladesh. 

Prime Minister’s special envoy for climate change affairs and chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry Saber Hossain Chowdhury, MP, will attend the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest. 

Eminent human rights activist and the convener of Climate Justice Assembly-2023 Implementation Committee Sultana Kamal will preside over the opening session, while member secretary of the committee and convener of Waterkeepers Bangladesh Sharif Jamil will moderate the event.  

Chairman of Atmospheric Pollution Study Center (CAPS) Professor Dr. Ahmed Kamruzzaman Majumdar will deliver the welcome speech. 

Earlier on Wednesday (November 15), thirteen environmental organisations held a press conference at the National Press Club in the city ahead of the ‘Climate Justice Assembly-2023’.
