Two Covid deaths in 24 hours

Bangladesh registered two more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Friday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,072 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 512 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,585,539, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday.

The current positivity rate stands 2.74 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 13.80 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the two deceased, one was male and one was female. Of the deceased, one was from Dhaka and one was from Khulna division. 

A total of 18,673 samples were tested across the country till 8am Friday. 

Some 290 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,549,101 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.70 percent.

As of Friday, 5,448,990 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 287,016,902 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
