Two police personnel were killed in a road accident in Khaner Bazar area under Hatibanda upazila of Lalmonirhat district on Monday.
The accident took place as a truck hit a motorbike of the two policemen they were riding in the afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Sub-Inspector (DB) of Hatibanda police station Abdul Matin and constable Mojibul Haque.
Ershadul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hatibanda police station, confirmed the matter.
He said that the accident took place on Lalmonirhat-Burimari road at about 3:00 pm when the policemen were returning to the station by a motorbike. A truck hit the bike as the policeman was trying to overtake it killing both riders on the spot.
After the incident, locals seized truck. On information, members of Hatibanda police and fire service went to the spot and recovered the bodies, the OC added.
The OC said that legal action will be taken in this connection.
