Two college students beaten by hammer for protesting eve-teasing

Two college students were beaten with hammer by stalkers for protesting eve teasing at Naopara village under Naldanga upazila in Natore district on Wednesday night.

The victim students were identified as Sohag Hossain, 25, son of Hasem Ali, and Ataur Rahaman, 22, son of Ahad Ali. Both the college students are residents of Bilpara village of the upazila.

Police, however, arrested Hasib, son of Dulal Hossin of Surjoari village of the upazila, in this connection.

Ujjal Hossain, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Naldanga police station, and victim’s family said that Hasib, the stalker, and his partners were harassing schoolgirls on the way who were coming to Islamic Jalsa at Naopara village under the upazila from different areas on Wednesday night. At this time, the college students Sohag and Ataur protested the incident. Hasib and his followers became angry with the college students. At one point, Hasib and his followers beat Shohag and Ataur by hammer.

Later, the locals rescued them and admitted into Natore sadar hospital. Sohag, the injured student, filled a case against Hasib at Naldanga police station. Police said that they are investigating the matter. They will legal action in this connection.
