Two children drown in a pond in Sharankhola

Yasin, 4, son of Kabir Mal, a Saudi expatriate from Hogalpati village in Dhansagar union, and Maria, 7, daughter of Monir Hawladar of Bakultala village in Southkhali union, drowned three days ago at Sharankhola in Bagerhat. 

The death of Yasin, the only son of the family, has left his mother Rum Begum in dispair. At this time the relatives also broke down in tears. In this separate incident, the shadow of mourning descended on the area.

According to family sources, the child fell into the pond of the house last Saturday (April 23) at around 2 pm. After searching the pond and rescuing him, the on-duty doctor declared him dead when he was taken to the hospital. Upazila health complex emergency department doctor. Prosenjit said the baby was brought to the hospital dead.

On the other hand, Yasin's uncle Shahidul Islam said that on April 20, his nephew and another child were playing in the yard near the pond. While playing, Yasin fell into the pond and drowned. At that time, the playmate went to his mother and informed her about the incident. After being rescued from the pond and taken to the hospital, the doctor declared Yasin dead. 

Dr Sheikh Niaz, a doctor at the emergency department of Sharankhola Health Complex, said the baby was brought to the hospital by his relatives around 12 noon. The matter was later reported to the police. Police recovered the body and sent it to Bagerhat for autopsy the next day.

Sharankhola police inspector (investigation) Subrata Kumar said an unnatural death case has been filed in two separate incidents of drowning.
