The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP), Chuadanga District Office, conducted a market inspection in the Munshiganj area of Alamdanga upazila on Sunday.
During the operation, two business establishments were fined a total of Tk 40,000 for various violations.
The inspection took place between 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM and covered essential goods, sweets, medicines, fertilisers, and bakery items.
M/S Madan Mohan Mistanno Bhandar, owned by Mr Ujjal Kumar Saha, was fined Tk 30,000 under Section 43 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009, for producing and storing food in unhygienic conditions. Additionally, Taj Motors, owned by Md. Golam Mostafa, was fined Tk 10,000 following a written complaint for overcharging customers for DTSI engine oil.
The hotel owner was also instructed to address the observed shortcomings immediately.
The drive was led by Mr Mohammad Mamunul Hasan, Assistant Director of the Chuadanga District Office. He was assisted by Mr Naresh Chandra Biswas, Senior Chemist from the Department of Environment, Mr Sajib Pal, Safe Food Officer, and a team from Chuadanga District Police.
