Two brothers in smooth race

Published : 05 Dec 2023 09:54 PM

After scrutinizing the nomination papers in all five constituencies, the thirty eight remain valid among forty five and the scenario becomes that the completion in constituency four and five are smoother than the other three parliamentary seats.

A total of 20,50,691 voters exercised their votes on January 7,2024 as per declared schedule.

Ten candidates have submitted nomination papers in the constituency -1 in where total voters are 3,85,616 including Awami League nominated and an independent candidate who is a portfolio leader of Awami League. One nomination has been cancelled due to improper submitting.

In Narayanganj-2 constituency six candidates were in race but two were cancelled loan defaulter and incomplete form submitting. But a candidate from Jatio Party is able to contest highly with the Awami League nominated candidate.

Thirteen candidates submitted nomination papers in the Narayanganj constituency-3 while two were rejected due to loan defaulter. Awami League nominated candidate here has to fight hard with Jatio Party candidate.

In Narayanganj -4 constituency, eleven candidates submitted nomination papers of which two independent candidates' nominations were cancelled due to separate faults. So, Awami League nominated candidate AKM Shamim Osman will not face any strong candidate in the polling.

Shamim Osman’s elder brother Selim Osman nominated by Jatio Party is a strong candidate in Narayanganj-5 constituency.  Five candidates submitted nomination papers and all are valid. But the other four are not strong politically supported candidates.
