Two Bogura historic mosques set for renovation

Two historic mosques in Shibganj upazila are set to be revitalized after a five-decade-long wait, thanks to development projects worth over Tk 1.31 crore. The initiatives for the Mahasthan Bazar Mosque and the Mazar Mosque at the shrine of Hazrat Shah Sultan (Rh.) were secured through the support of Tariq Rahman, the acting chairman of BNP, and the efforts of Mir Shahe Alam.

The foundation stone for a new building for the Bazar Mosque, which was initially built in 1975 with a tin shed and could only accommodate 20-30 worshippers at a time, has been laid. The new structure will alleviate the struggles faced by the thousands of people who visit the market daily and often found no space for prayers.

Furthermore, a separate allocation of Tk 1.1 crore has been confirmed for the development of the Mazar Mosque and its surrounding area. This funding will restart long-stalled work, including the repair of an unsafe staircase and the completion of an unfinished three-story building, breathing new life into the sacred site.

The inauguration ceremony for the development work was held on Saturday morning. Mir Shahe Alam, a syndicate member of several national universities and a director of BSCIC and BRTC, was present at the event. He later inspected the development activities. The event was also attended by local LGED engineers, local BNP leaders, and devout community members.
