Police have arrested two teenagers for raping a speech-impaired girl in Birat village of Ajmiriganj upazila of Habiganj district. They were arrested from Shibpasha area of the upazila in the early hours of Tuesday.
The detainees Badhon Mia (15) and Monirul Mia (15) of the same village.
It is learned that the girl's mother used to work as a housemaid in Badhon’s house. On Monday afternoon, the speech impaired girl went to work at the house instead of his mother.
Badhon and his accomplice Monirul found the girl alone at home and raped her. Later, when the parents of Badhon were brought to justice, they insulted the mother of the victim.
Baniachang-Ajmiriganj Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Sheikh Md Selim Mia said the two arrested teenagers had confessed to rape to the police.
The girl's mother has filed a case with the police station in this regard. The two arrested persons will be handed over to the court. He also said that the girl would be sent to the hospital for medical examination.
