A case has been registered against three persons for allegedly killing a young man named Saidul Islam in Kaunia of Rangpur and burying him in a hole on the floor of his house. Azimuddin, the father of slain Saidul Islam, filed the case at Kaunia Police Station on Saturday night.
Police sent Rafiqul Islam and his wife Bulbuli Begum to court around 9:30 am on Sunday. However, the police did not want to reveal the name of the other accused mentioned in the statement before arresting him.
Although Rafiqul, a chanachur seller, claimed to the police that Saidul had an extramarital affair with his wife, the police are looking into everything possible.
Kaunia Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Masumur Rahman said the couple, who were detained for questioning on the day of the incident, were shown arrested in the case. The two of them were sent to court on Sunday morning. He said efforts were being made to arrest another fugitive.

Rangpur District Police Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Abu Tayyab Muhammad Arif Hossain said the accused had been questioned. Rafiqul's claim may not be the real reason. Four or five years ago, there were clashes between Rafiqul and Saidul over land.
“However, this murder has taken place around an issue and we are investigating considering all
aspects. However, it is being investigated whether anyone else is involved in this massacre,” said Arif Hossain.
On Saturday, police recovered Saidul Islam's body from a hole in the floor of a house in Azam Khan village of Tepamdhupur union of Kaunia upazila.
Earlier, Saidul went missing on Friday evening. The next day, on Saturday morning, the locals informed the police after seeing blood-stained spades and blood stains in a corn field near Rafiqul's house.
Police reached the spot and found the body of Saidul buried on the floor of Rafiqul's younger brother's house following the blood stains.
