Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested two kidnappers of a teenage girl from Rajuk Commercial Complex area in Dhaka city on Saturday within 24 hours after filing a case in this connection.
“On a tip- off, a joint operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialized Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 from Rangpur and CPSC-1 of RAB-1 from Dhaka conducted a raid there, rescued the victim and arrested the two kidnappers,” a press release said today.
The arrested kidnappers are Md. Mashiur Rahman, 21, and his brother Md. Rafiul, 34, both are sons of Md. Aiyub Ali of village Sangkarpur Pathanpara in Badarganj upazila of Rangpur.
Earlier, Mashiur developed an affair with the school-going teenage girl taking the advantage of visiting her house frequently as a relative.
Later, Mashiur married another girl and continued meeting the schoolgirl, promising her to marry after divorcing his wife.
Knowing the matter, her parents asked Mashiur to refrain from such activities. However, he became ferocious and threatened them to abduct their daughter.
Subsequently, Mashiur with his other associates kidnapped the girl from Badarganj market area on October 30 last and took her to Dhaka in an unconscious state after feeding her sedative medicines.
“Taking her to an unknown house in Dhaka, Mashiur promised her to marry, raped her and fled from the house after two days,” the release said.
Later, Mashiur’s elder brother brought the victim to Badarganj Bazar on November 3 last and left her there from where her parents took the victim to their house.
The victim filed a case in this connection against Mashiur and his three other associates with Badarganj police station on December 17 last.
After getting a letter from the Investigating Officer of the case, the CPSC of RAB-13 started a shadow investigation into the case to bring the accused under the law of the land.
Later, the CPSC of RAB-13 with the CPSC-1 of RAB-1 conducted a joint raid at Rajuk Commercial Area, rescued the victim and arrested the two abductors on Saturday within 24 hours after filing of the case.
During interrogation, the arrested persons admitted their involvement in kidnapping the girl and raping her forcibly.
“The elite force handed over the arrested kidnappers to Badarganj police station for taking further legal action against them,” the release added.
