Turongomi Repertory Dance Theatre completed six years of its establishment on January 31, 2020. Founded by Pooja Sengupta in 2014, it resolved to promoting professionalism in the field of dance in Bangladesh and to establish a signature dancing style of Bangladesh.
It is the first dance based repertory of Bangladesh. In 2018 on the occasion of 4th anniversary of the repertory, Turongomi School of Dance started its journey. This is the first dance school in Bangladesh to become a member of International Dance Council UNESCO.
Over the years they have received splendid acceptance from the audience and well wishers. To commemorate the occasion they released a video on Pooja Sengupta’s own You Tube channel. The video is titled ‘Splendid6’ which is actually a compilation of the emotions of Turongomi members towards their dance group.
On the occasion of 6th anniversary celebration of Turongomi, they will conduct free workshop for dancers and dance enthusiasts. The workshop on ‘Choreography and dance production making basics’ will be conducted by Pooja Sengupta, Artistic Director of Turongomi on February 23, 24 at Turongomi Dance Studio in New Eskaton, Dhaka.
Selected participants of the workshop will get chance to be part of Turongomi Repertory and also to take part at a prestigious international dance festival in April 2020.
