A motorcyclist was killed and two other riders were seriously injured when a truck hit the motorbike at Muktodah area in Chawgacha upazila in Jashore on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Majhar Ali, 70, of Burinda village in Chawgacha upazila of the district. The injured are Hashem Ali, 50, and Anisur Rahman, 47, of the upazila.
Police and witnesses said, the accident took place around 7:30 am when a truck hit the motorbike carrying the three persons. Seriously injured three motocyclists were taken to Chawgacha upazila health complex. Later, they were reffered to the Jashore 250-bed General Hospital where Majhar Ali succumbed to his injuries.
Mintu Miah, son of Majhar Ali, said that his father and two other relatives were going to Chawgacha Bazaar from their home by the motorcycle. When they reached at Muktodah area, a truck hit them from back side.
Rifat Bin Rajib, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chawgacha police station, confirmed the matter. He said that they seized the truck but its driver and helper fled from the spot. A case was filed in this connection, the OC added.
