A freight truck and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw collided head-on in Maijdee upazila of Noakhali district. CNG driver Abdur Rahim was killed on the spot. However, there were no passengers in the CNG at that time.
The accident took place at around 8 am on Saturday in the Maijdee Bazar area of Chaumuhani-Maijdee road. The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahim, son of Joynal Abedin of the area.
According to local sources, Abdur Rahim got on the main road in the morning with CNG. At that time, while going towards the crossroads with CNG, a freight truck left from the side of the crossroads crushed his CNG from the front. Abdur Rahim was killed on the spot when the CNG got crashed under the heavy truck. Later, with the help of the locals, the family members took his body home.
Sudharam Model Police Station Inspector Imdadul Haque confirmed the matter and said trucks and CNG were seized from the spot. However, the truck driver fled after the incident and could not be apprehended. Necessary action will be taken if any complaint is received from the family of the deceased.
