Demise of the legend, the King Of Bangla cinema Soumitra Chattopadhyay. It’s end of an Era. He will always remain in our hearts through his immense body of work. Had a fantastic bonding with him. Will miss you!!! #RestInPeaceLegend #SoumitraChattopadhyay. Said by Tollywood Actor Jeet from his official fb page

Music composer Jeet Gannguly wrote, "I have no words to express my grief ....! Great loss for Indian and International film industry....Rest in peace Soumitra Chatterji."

Actor Deb tweeted, “No matter where you are, I will miss you very much, chanadadu.”

When he shed the glory of acting on the screen and portrayed the character's behavior, it was not just a wonderful event in the art world of India, it was the beginning of a new era. His place is in the first row of world-film acting. But the creator of that history, the artist who rose to the top, as a human being he was an ocean. That ocean is atlantic, but calm.He is not dead! said actress Jaya Ahsan.

Some considered him a teacher, some a guru, and so did I... he was my own, very own “Udayan Master”... but beyond it all, he was a dear dear friend! Last one and half years had us grow fond of each other, not as if there weren’t minor disagreements now and then, like the way it happens between friends. but respect and love only grew abundantly.

A big piece tears away from my existence today, a precious tie severed. Impossible to articulate how it feels to lose a friend Who also is a teacher. Won’t even try to tread that path. Have been in distant Himachal for the past one month. Can’t be present on his last journey. Guess it’s only befitting of this sorrow, which is to Be observed in silence, in serenity, in solitude. I request friends in the media to not call and ask for a ‘reaction’. This pain, is too personal. This loss doesn’t belong to words, belongs to me alone, said actor Parambrata.

A star with whom I was quite fortunate to work with has fallen from the sky today. It is quite unbelievable and heartbreaking to believe this harsh reality that Soumitra Jethu is no more with us.Can’t explain in words what we lost today. Soumitra Jethu you will be missed forever, said actress Retuparna Sengupta.

Actor Rahul Bose tweeted, "I grew up watching his films day after day. So working with him in #15ParkAvenue was surreal. He answered all my questions on how it was to work with #SatyajitRay with generosity and warmth. It’s been a privilege, Soumitrada. Rest in peace."

Actor Sayani Gupta tweeted, "Soumitra Chattopadhyay, Feluda, leaves us. Numb. An era, one generation, a huge legacy gone. Gave 70 years to the Silver Screen."

Actor Manoj Bajpayee tweeted, "Tragic loss!! Rest in peace Sir!! Your contribution to the Indian Cinema will always be remembered and inspire the generations to come !! ."

Stand-up comedian and lyricist Varun Grove tweeted, "Science can explain how we evolved from just another hunter-gatherer species to creators of abstract art in a span of ~50k years and still, nothing can explain the sublime magic some artists manage to ignite in just ~50 years."
