The trial run of Covid-19 vaccines on 100 students, aged 12 to 17, is scheduled to be conducted today (Thursday) in Manikganj. These students will be jabbed with Pfizer vaccine.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque will inaugurate the vaccination program at the Colonel Malek Medical College Hospital in Manikganj at the noon.
Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Abul Bashar Mohammed Khurshid Alam shared this information on Wednesday on a facebook live video. Initially, 50 to 100 students will be vaccinated, he said.
However, mentioning these students will also be monitored, he said, "We will have a trial run before finalizing the dosage for this vaccine.”
"Manikganj is the constituency of Health Minister Zahid Maleque. Therefore, this vaccination programme will start from here,” he added.
After vaccination, these children will be monitored for 10 to 14 days to see if there are any side effects. After that, this vaccination program will be started on a large scale in Dhaka.
