Tree planting programme on Mujib Barsho inaugurated

Chittagong University (CU) Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shirin Akhtar said, “Trees are the best friends of the environment. Planting trees as well as caring is vital. Forest conservation is one of the key factors in maintaining biodiversity and natural balance. 

She said this while inaugurating the tree planting program-2020 in the area adjacent to CU Medical Center on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The CU Forest Science and Environmental Science Institute assisted in organizing the event at the Institution of Foresters Bangladesh (IFB). 3 thousand saplings of 23 species were planted under the tree planting program.

 CU Science Dean Prof. Dr. Md. Nasim Hasan, Registrar (Acting) Prof. SM Monirul Hasan, Director of Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences Prof. Dr. Jarin Akhtar, Prof. Dr. Md. Safiul Alam, Prof. Dr. Md. Al Amin , Prof. Dr. Syed Md. Shamsul Huda, Divisional Forest Officer of Chittagong North Forest Department Bakhtiyar Noor Siddiqui, Divisional Forest Officer of Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Department Abu Naser Mohammad Yasin Newaz, Assistant Forest Conservator AZM Hasanur Rahman were present this occasion.
