Tree plantation programme launched at CU

The importance of tree planting is immense for the survival of human beings and animals. Trees play an important role in all aspects of human life, including oxygen and food, the main components of animal survival.

Vice Chancellor of Chiattagaong University Prof Dr Shirin Akhter said this while inaugurating a tree planting program on the occasion of birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Botanical Garden organised by the Department of Botany, Chittagong University on Sunday.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Biology, CU spoke as the special guest on the occasion.

Dr. Shirin Akhtar said that everyone  should be careful in protecting the environment through programs like tree planting.  If we are all a little more aware, we can become partners in maintaining the balance of the environment by planting trees every year.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Harun-ur-Rashid, President, CU Department of Plant Sciences presided over the function.  Prof. Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Huda, Professor in Charge of Botanical Gardens and Convener of Tree Planting Program also spoke on the occasion.
