Tree fair begins in Cox's Bazar

A week-long tree fair has started in Cox's Bazar with the slogan- ‘Brikkho Diye Sajai Desh, Somriddho Kori Bangladesh (Let’s decorate the country with trees, enrich Bangladesh).’

The new Deputy Commissioner of Cox's Bazar Mohammad Salahuddin inaugurated the fair on Thursday morning.

The week-long tree fair was started with the initiative of Cox's Bazar District Administration and Forest Department at Shaheed Daulat Maidan in Cox's Bazar city. 

After inaugurating the fair by cutting ribbon and releasing balloons, a discussion was held. Mohammad Sarwar Alam, Divisional Forest Officer of Cox's Bazar South Forest Division, presided over the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin was the chief guest at the discussion.

Superintendent of Police of Cox's Bazar Md Rahmat Ullah, Divisional Forest Officer of Cox's Bazar North Forest Division Mohammad Anwar Hossain Sarkar, General Secretary of Cox's Bazar Press Club Momtaz Uddin Bahari spoke as special guests.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Yamin Hossain, Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nilufa Yasmin Chowdhury and others were also present there.

Later, the guests visited the stalls of the fair. The Deputy Commissioner bought a tree sapling from a nursery for the office.

A total of 35 stalls were set up at the tree fair.
