Under the socio-economic development project of the disadvantaged sections of the society, training was conducted in formulating family and business development plans. The training was inaugurated by Jahangir Selim, Human Resource Development Director of Unnayan Sangha. Murshed Iqbal, Assistant Director Program of the organization presided over the inaugural function of the training held at DNRC, the training center of Unnayan Sangha on January 21.
Development Project Manager Liton Sarkar, Project Officer Arju Ahmed, Representative of the Hijra community and President of the Staircase Social Welfare Organization Arifa Yasmin Mayuri, Vice President Delwara Delu and others. Apart from hiring 4 staff, focal persons and accountants have been appointed for the implementation of the project.
According to the organizing authority, the plan will be formulated by identifying the current sources of income and employment opportunities of the transgender people. Through this project, employment will be created by ensuring efficient assessment of their needs through training. Thoughts have been given to provide jobs and other benefits to them according to their educational qualifications, including easy disbursement of loans.
Their dignity and human rights will be protected by integrating them into the mainstream of development, including housing facilities, family reunification, government allowances, increasing their participation in various social, religious and cultural activities.
