Training at Ishwardi fire service on post-earthquake operations

A special training session on the use of rescue tools and equipment required after earthquakes was held on Monday at the Ishwardi Fire Service and Civil Defence office in Pabna.

The initiative comes in the wake of multiple tremors felt across the country on Friday and Saturday, which left 10 people dead, over 500 injured, and caused damage to homes in Dhaka and several other districts.

The training focused on enhancing preparedness for post-earthquake rescue operations.

Officials said the Ishwardi Fire Service and Warehouse currently has 26 members, including an inspector, who regularly work in firefighting, road accident response, and general disaster management.

Inspector Mir Amirul Islam told reporters that although such training is part of their routine activities, this session placed special emphasis on earthquake-related challenges. Members were trained on how to operate different tools and equipment used in rescue efforts, along with discussions on immediate actions required after an earthquake.

He said personnel were instructed on the proper use of equipment and advised to maintain heightened awareness to respond efficiently to any emergency situation.
