Train-microbus collision in Kulaura, 3 died

At least three people were killed when a Sylhet-bound train collided with a passenger microbus at Moulvibazar's Kulaura upazila. At least 6 people were injured in the incident. The accident took place at around 12am on Sunday noon when the Sylhet-bound Parabat Express train hit a passenger microbus at a railway crossing in Hossainpur area of Vatera Union in Kulaura upazila.

According to the locals, the passenger microbus got hit with the Sylhet-bound Parabat train while crossing the rail crossing in Hossainpur area. There is no gate or gateman at the rail crossing. So far, three deaths have been confirmed in the incident. However, the death toll is expected to rise further. The microbus passengers were going from Sylhet to Hossainpur village. The injured and dead were rescued and sent to Sylhet M. A. G. Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Upon receiving the news, Kulaura Upazila Nirbahi Officer ATM Farhad Chowdhury, Kulaura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Binoy Bhushan Das and fire service personnel reached the spot. Local people and fire service personnel rescued the passengers from the crashed microbus.

Kulaura railway station master Muhibur Rahman confirmed the incident but could not confirm the overall casualties. However, rail communication is normal, he said.

Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kulaura Police Station Binoy Bhushan Das said three people were killed when a train hit a passenger microbus in Kulaura. 6 more people were injured. However, their identities were not immediately available. He said the condition of some of the injured was critical and they were rushed to Sylhet M. A. G. Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet.
