Traditional Poush Mela of Bengal was held at the cropland of Nabinagar village under 1 No ward of Municipal area on Friday January 10, in Sherpur. Local people of Nabinagar village organize this fair for about hundred years.
At the fair, variety of delicious traditional dishes of Bengal, including various pies, sweets, decorations, appetizing dishes were displayed. In addition, children's toys, various earthen furniture, girls' cosmetics and bangles are also decorated in the shop. Sale volume was high during this time. Thousands of women and men from different classes of the city, besides the common people of the village gather in the fair.
Twenty-two horse riders from all over the district came to participate in horse racing in the fair. At the end of the game, Md Nazrul Islam, Councilor of Sherpur Municipality distributed the prizes among the winners.
