The traditional bull fight competition was held at Sultan Mela in Narail on Saturday. Acting Deputy Commissioner Kazi Mahbubur Rashid, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Jasim Uddin, general secretary of Sultan Foundation Md. Ashikur Rahman Miku were present at bull fight competition inaugural session on the day at noon. The bull fight goes on till afternoon 5:00 pm.
Thousands of people gathered in Narail and neighbouring districts Gopalganj, Khulna, Bagerhat, Magura and Jashore to watch the bull fight. Hundreds of bulls from different areas competed in the competition. During this time, the enthusiasm of the enthusiastic visitors continued all around the field.
From the morning, eager visitors gathered in the field to watch the fight. Some enjoy this exciting fight without eating again at noon. The scared bull again fled the field, injuring the audience again. Visitors enjoy this millennial traditional bull fight with excitement and fear.
The bull fight is held every year at the Sultan Mela. Visitors said they have been waiting all the year when the Sultan Mela will be held and they will see the bull fight. The 12-day long 'Sultan Mela' has begun at Narail Government Victoria College's Sultan Mancha premises on January 16 to marking the 95th birth anniversary of world renowned painter SM Sultan. The fair will conclude tomorrow (Monday). At least 100 stalls with traditional textile and cottage industry products set up in the Mela ground for sale. Boat riding, Nagordola with various types of enjoyable have been set up to entertain the children.
The fair was inaugurated by Khulna Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Howlader as chief guest while Khulna Range Police DIG Dr. Kha. Mohid Uddin was present as guest of honour in the inaugural session. Sultan Mela was organized by the district administration and SM Sultan Foundation.This year's fair has been announced as the dedication of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
