Traders in Cox’s Bazar traders announce half-day strike from April 4

Traders went on a half-day strike on Thursday, demanding that if the 35-year-old tenants not be given shops according to contact in the newly built market, all the shops in Cox's Bazar except pharmacy and food shops will be closed till 1 pm in the upcoming strike from April 4th, announced by Cox's Bazar Shop Owners Association Federation. A sit-in was held in front of Jalil Market on Anderson Road in Cox's Bazar.

The traders have given a deadline of April 3 to explain the shops after the location program. 

If the shops are not handed over, the traders will go on strike for half a day from April 4 indefinitely. 

At the same time, Jalil Market will be blocked and a sit-in programme will be held, said Mahabubur Rahman, panel mayor of Cox's Bazar Shop Owners Association Federation. Advocate Ranjit Das, joint general secretary of district Awami League, Ujjwal Kar, president of district puja celebration council and other businessmen spoke on the occasion.
