Import and export countries through Benapole port remained suspended due to Kali Puja, a religious festival of the Hindu community, on Sunday
Port cargo handling and delivery and passenger crossings between Bangladesh and India were normal during that time.
Kartik Chakraborty, general secretary of Petrapole C&F Staff Welfare Association of India, said, Due to the public holiday in India on the occasion of Diwali import and export trade was postponed from Sunday morning to evening. Mofizur Rahman Sajan, president of the Benapole C&F Agents Association, said the Indian C&F Staff Association informed them of suspension of import-export through Benapole-Petrapole port.
Import and export was set to start from Monday morning.
