The TR-Kabita project has brought rural communities closer and accelerated the economic development activities in Nilphari district.
Rural roads of Kishoreganj upazila in the district have been changed remarkably through the TR-Kabita project this year.
Under the Rural Infrastructure Reform Program for the financial year 2020-21, the special allocation of Kabita in the 2nd and 3rd phases of the local MP Ahsan Adelur Rahman Adel at a cost of around Tk 60 lakh has been done by laying bricks on 30 roads in nine unions of the upazila has been completed. The work has been implemented under the Upazila Relief and Disaster Department.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Abu Hasnat Sarkar, Upazila Project Implementation Officer, said that the land used to be filled earlier by allocating money for Kabita. In the past, during the rainy season, all the roads were washed and become unsuitable for movement. And the government money would have been squandered, he added.
He also said that road work would not be visible even at the field level. Therefore, in consultation with the local MP, Chairman of Kishoreganj Upazila Parisahd and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), work has been done to make the road CC, HB and fill the soil with the funding of Kabita project, he added.
Maqbool and Abdul of Karollabecha Para in Magura union of the upazila, said that there was no end to the misery caused by muddy roads. And the main problem during the rainy season was to be ashamed of the new relatives when the children get married.
But at present, the roads have been diverted and new doors have been opened for traffic. And the locals are also happy with the quality of work, they added.
Chairman of Kishoreganj Upazila Parishad Shah Mohammand Abul Kalam Bari Pilot said expressed happiness over radical development his upazila. He said that the promise of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the village will be the town, has come true today.
MP Ahsan Adelur Rahman Adel to the Bangladesh Post that massive development of roads of different areas has been done. As a result, the communication system has been improved. More work will be done for the overall development including roads, he added.
