Tourist spots abuzz with visitors

The country’s Covid-19 hard hit tourism sector has started turning around as the government has taken impressive immediate action to restore and rejuvenate it.

The country’s major tourism spots got a rush of tourists on the New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The two main beaches Cox’s Bazar and Kuakata witnessed the most crows. Cox's Bazar, the longest beach in the world, was crowded on the last sunset of the year on Thursday. At the same time, thousands of people from different parts of the country came to Kuakata beach to watch the first sunrise of the year on Friday.

The Sundarbans various tourist centers are also overflowing with backpackers. From Friday last until Saturday afternoon for New Year and public holidays, the number of travel lovers in the Sundarbans has increased.

Hotels and motels in Bandar nagar city of Mongla are full of tourists. Many domestic and foreign travelers are gathering in tourist launches, Jaliboats, trawlers, and other vessels.  

People from different parts of the country are flowing to Rangamati. Apart from visiting Kaptai Lake by boat, many people are visiting Shuvlong Jharna, Raj Banavihar, and Chakma Rajbari.

Businessmen involved in the tourism industry are happy with the sudden increase in tourists. They said that as the number of tourists has increased in the early days of the year, they wish to have the same flow throughout the year.

Although the New Year’s Eve (31st night) celebrations were not allowed this time with tourist police including other law enforcement agencies and organisations in active mode at all the tourism spots to avert any kind of untoward situations there.

Cox's Bazar Tourist Police Additional Superintendent Mohammad Mohiuddin Ahmed said, “All preparations have been made for the overall safety of tourists visiting Cox's Bazar. Besides, the control room, medical team, uniformed police, and quick response team are engaged in surveillance round the clock”.

President of the Tour Operators Association of Kuakata, Ruman Imtiaz Tushar said tourists flow in Kuakata on special days increases several fold. “We are always working sincerely to increase tourist service”.

Kuakata Tourist Police ASP, MM Mizanur Rahman said, “We have a patrol of tourist police from Zero Point to Gangamati Lake in the east and Lembur Forest in the west for safe travel of tourists. Rescue teams including mobile teams are also working for the safety of tourists.”  

Ramzan Ali, the lease manager of the tourist ghat said that the number of tourists had dropped last year due to the coronavirus. A good number of tourists came on the first day of the new year. They are visiting Kaptai Lake and seeing other sights by boat.
