Police have recovered the hanging body of a tourist housewife from a residential hotel room in Cox's Bazar on Thursday night.
Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Dulal Chandra Dey said the body was recovered from Ikra Beach Resort, a residential hotel in the hotel-motel zone of Kalatali area of Cox's Bazar. The deceased was identified as Shathi Akhter, 19, wife of Arnab Sheikh of Olipur area in Faridpur. She is the daughter of Khairul Islam of Betagi area of Barguna.
Dulal said police went to the spot and recovered the body after the hotel authorities informed them. The room was locked from the outside. “The body was found hanging with a fan”, he added. Dulal said police were working to find out whether it was a murder or suicide. Her husband Arnab Sheikh has been absconding since the incident. Dulal said the body of the deceased was kept in the morgue of Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
