Tourist bus service in Ctg to be launched on June 10

Chattogram district administration in collaboration with Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will launch tourist buses service for the first time on June 10.

Secretary of Road Transport and Highways Department ABM Amin Ullah Noori will inaugurated the service.

This tourist buses will run around Patenga Beach, the most popular tourist spot in Chattogram and the newly constructed DC Park at Faujdarhat.  The tourist buses service will start with two buses.  

In the first phase, two double-decker buses of BRTC are being developed as tourist buses.  In this, keeping in mind the needs of tourists, an open-top bus has also been kept.

Every day at 3 pm and 4 pm, tourist buses will depart from Tiger Pass in the city via DC Park on the way to Patenga Beach.  Two buses will return to the city at 7 pm and 8 pm.  However, these two buses will run in the afternoon as well as in the morning during the holidays.

 Every Friday at 9 am from Tiger Pass to Patenga Beach and return to the city by the same bus at 12 pm.  On the other hand, tourist buses will depart from Tiger Pass to Patenga Beach twice on Saturday at 9:30 am and 10:30 am.  Two buses will return from Patenga Beach to Tiger Pass at 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM.

According to district administration sources, an initiative has been taken to transform Chattogram as the first smart district of the country.  Various initiatives and programs are already being implemented.  In continuation of this, tourist buses are traveling with two double decker buses for the tourists of Chattogram.

  Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman said, a modern bus service is being launched for Chattogram tourists.  This is a special gift from Hon'ble Prime Minister to the people of Chattogram.  Through this, tourists can easily visit Patenga, one of the most beautiful natural beaches in the country.  Through this a new chapter of modern communication system will start in Chittagong.  At the same time it will be one of the accessories of Smart Chattogram.

 According to BRTC sources, anyone can travel on tourist buses by collecting tickets from the driver's assistant on each bus.  Tourist bus fares are kept within reach.  

Passengers of these buses cannot hop on and off like other public transports in the city.  However, in case of going to Patenga Beach from Tiger Pass, tourists can travel by bus from GEC Junction and 2 no gate area of the city.  This bus fare from Tiger Pass directly to Patenga beach is 70 taka.  However, the return fare from Patenga Beach to Tiger Pass is only Tk 30.

 Meanwhile, the ticket from Tiger Pass to DC Park has been kept at 40 taka.  The same fare will be charged for returning from DC Park to Tiger Pass.  Tourists can go to Patenga Beach from DC Park for a ticket of 30 taka.  However, tourists have to pay 70 taka on the way back.

 Chattogram Additional Deputy Commissioner (Land Acquisition) Md. Abu Raihan Dolon said, "No counter has been set up for tickets yet.  Tickets are available directly from the driver's assistant.  While going to the beach, tourists can buy a ticket and board the bus from GEC and 2 no gate area.  However, it cannot be dropped off at places like public transport.  It will stop at the designated spot as a tourist bus.
