‘Tourism master plan to get boost after pandemic goes’

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mohammad Mahbub Ali on Wednesday said, “We have started the work of formulating a tourism master plan for the overall development of the country's tourism industry. Once Covid’s infection subsides, we will resume the stalled work of formulating a tourism master plan”.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a feasibility study workshop on “Construction of Tourism Zone with Sheikh Hasina Tower at Khurushkul in Cox's Bazar" organized by Bangladesh Tourism Corporation at Hotel Shaibal in Cox's Bazar.

He added that,“The tourism industry around the world has been affected due to Covid-19, and Bangladesh is no exception. We are working on how to revitalize the tourism industry”.

The state minister said that, “The local people should play their role in keeping the environment of Cox's Bazar healthy and beautiful to build it as a modern tourist city. People need to be made aware of its importance through local administration. If the environment of this tourist city keep beautiful, increase number of domestic and foreign tourists will come here, from which the local people will directly benefit”.

Also present at the workshop were Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Md. Mokammel Hossain, Chairman of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation Md. Hannan Mia, Advocate Sirajul Mostafa, Secretary for Religious Affairs of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Awami League, Cox's Bazar District Awami League President and District Council Chairman Mostaq Ahmed Chowdhury, Cox's Bazar District Administrator Md. Mamunur Rashid.
