A touchstone (Koshtipathor) idol was found while excavating Tangan River in Baradeswari area of Thakurgaon Sadar upazila under district Water Development Board (WDB) on Friday afternoon.
Rabiul Islam, Executive Engineer of Thakurgaon WDB said that while excavating Tangon River with an excavator, the excavator driver and workers found the statue weighing 5 kg and submitted it to WDB on Saturday morning.
Simanta Kumar Barman Nirmal, UP Chairman of Dholar Hat said that after recovering the idol, the workers secretly tried to sell it with the help of a local man. Upon receiving the news, police started searching for the excavator driver Shahidul Islam at night.

Executive Engineer Rabiul Islam said the statue is currently in their custody. A letter has already been given to the administration and it will be handed over to the district administration Today, (September 6).
