A total solar eclipse will occur today (Monday) however, it will not be visible in Bangladesh.
A solar eclipse occurs when a portion of the Earth is engulfed in a shadow cast by the Moon which fully or partially blocks sunlight, reports BSS.
This occurs when the Sun, Moon and Earth are aligned. Such alignment coincides with a new moon indicating the Moon is closest to the ecliptic plane.
In a total eclipse, the disk of the Sun is fully obscured by the Moon.
The eclipse will begin at 7:34pm (BST) at North-West of George town in the South Atlantic Ocean while it will end at 12:53am (BST) at South-West of St. Helena Ascension and Tristan da Cunha in the South Atlantic Ocean, said a press release of Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
It said the central eclipse will begin at 8:32pm (BST) at North of the Adams town in the South Pacific Ocean and greatest eclipse at 10:13pm (BST) at Nueve de julio Department of Rio Negro town of Argentina while the central eclipse will end at 11:54pm (BST) at West of Namib-Naukluft National Park of Namibia in the South Atlantic Ocean.
