Toronto celebrates Victory Day

Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto has celebrated the 50th Victory Day with due fervour and solemnity.

 Consulate officials have organised the Victory Day celebrations maintaining social distance amid Covid-19 lock-down in Toronto.  

Celebration of the day began with hoisting the Bangladesh National Flag in the morning. 

The afternoon programme started with paying homage to the martyrs of the War of Liberation and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 

Video messages of President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were also read out.

Consul General Nayem Uddin Ahmed delivered a speech followed by a documentary on Bangabandhu and Bangladesh. 

On the 50th Victory Day, the Consulate General formally launched the “Bangabandhu Corner” in the Mission premises. 

He referred to the Padma bridge and metro rail projects and said: “Today’s Bangladesh is an ‘Economic Wonder’ for the rest of the world”. 

Finally, a special monajat was offered for the salvation of the departed souls of the martyrs of the liberation war and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members as well as for the continued peace and progress of the country.
