The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained a person in Dhaka for his involvement in online casinos and different kinds of illegal activities. Salim Prodhan was held from an aircraft at the Dhaka airport on Monday, said a spokesperson for the elite force. The suspect is involved with online casino operations in Bangladesh, Deputy Director Mizanur Rahman of the RAB’s legal and media wing told Bangladesh Post. “He has been detained for interrogation.”
Terming Salim as ‘Bangladesh country chief’ of online casino business, a senior RAB official, on condition of anonymity, said, “Salim was under watch for quite some time. He is responsible for online casino operations in Bangladesh.” Earlier in the day, RAB personnel held Salim from a Thai Airways flight. Sources at Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport said that Salim, who was flying in business class, was disembarked from the plane minutes before taxying.
