Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in an anti-crime drive, arrested an alleged top-listed firearms trader with a foreign pistol from the city here on Monday night.
The arrested was identified as Raihatul Salman, 19, son of Md Abdus Salam of Hatkanpara village under Durgapur Upazila in the district, RAB sources said here this afternoon.
On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive at Kharkhari area under Chandrima Police Station in Rajshahi metropolis around 9.30 pm and arrested him.
The operation team recovered a foreign pistol, two rounds of bullet and a magazine from his possession, according to the RAB sources.
The RAB team detained the person for his long involvement in firearms and drugs trading and trafficking.
In another anti-crime drive, another RAB team arrested an alleged drug paddler Apan Ali, 20, son of Abu Taher with 619 grams of heroin from Digram area under Godagari Upazila in the district around 10.15 pm.
Two separate cases were recorded with the respective police stations in these connections and the arrested persons, along with the seized goods, were handed over to police, the sources added.
