Top performers in first match

In a low scoring opening match of the BCB President’s Cup on Sunday, big scores from players bat was a rare sight. However, Nazmul XI batsmen Touhid Hridoy and Irfan Shukkur have left their mark in their team’s dominating 4-wicket victory against Mahmudullah XI at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. Nazmul XI’s bowler Taskin Ahmed, who has been in rhythm since the two-day warm-up matches, also showed a glimpse of his brilliance in this match. Four members of the winning team got the recognition of the best players in four categories. 

Man of the Match: After grabbing 5 wickets for 65 runs, Touhid performed brilliantly with the bat. This member of the Youth World Cup winning team has brought himself to the fore at the first opportunity. The right-hander, who scored 52 off 67 balls, has been named Man of the Match for his role in paving the way for the team to win.

Best batsman: Irfan Shukkur, the experienced left-arm batsman of domestic cricket has scored an unbeaten 56 runs off 78 balls. He left the field after clinching his team’s victory. Among star batsmen like, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad and Liton Das he stole the limelight.

Best bowler: Since post coronavirus period, Taskin Ahmed shown great improvement in fitness. Earlier, he made the batsmen in two warm-up matches. This fast bowler has shown similar consistency in the BCB President’s Cup. In the match against Mahmudullah XI, his fiery pace made batsmen suffer a lot. Taskin, who scalped 2 wickets for 37 runs with 2 maidens in 10 overs, became the best bowler of the match.
