Tk 572,000 fines collected from 2,100 rly passengers

The Commercial Division of the Pakshi Divisional Office of the Western Railway has run a mobile court on 14 intercity trains and collected fines including fares for traveling without a ticket. 

The operation was carried out at Ishwardi, Khulna, Rajbari, Bangabandhu Bridge (West), Parbatipur Junction Station from Saturday morning till night.

The 14 intercity trains are Kopotaksh, Chitra, Rupsha (up) Madhumati, Tungipara, Silkcity, Ekta, Rangpur, Banalata, Dhalarchar, Nilsagar, (up) Barindra Express, Nilsagar and Rupsha (down). Nasir Uddin, Commercial Officer (DCO) of Pakshi Divisional Office of Western Railway conducted the operation.

During the raid, the mobile court collected fines of Tk 5,72,250 from 2,104 passengers, raveling without tickets, including their fares.

Commercial Officer Nasir Uddin said public transport owners across the country had stopped passenger buses due to the sudden rise in fuel prices. The pressure on the train increased due to the strike. So the trains were raided by a mobile court to check whether anyone was traveling on the train without a ticket. 

They found 2,104 passengers travelling without tickets. According to the railway law, 4 lakh 5 thousand 670 taka fares and 1 lakh 66 thousand 580 taka fine was collected from the passengers, travelling without tickets.

Mobile ticket examiners Abdul Alim Biswas Mithu, Yasir Arafat, Barkatullah Al-Amin, Martin Joy, Monowarul Islam, Enayet Hossain, Monirul Islam, Arup Jyoti, Enamul Haque, Makleshur Rahman, Sanjit Chandra Roy, Ashikur Rahman, Amirul Haque, Belal Hossain and members of the railway police and security forces were present.
