Tk 328.22cr budget approved for JS

Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat Commission on Thursday approved an estimated Tk 328.22-crore budget to bear the development and non-development expenditures of the national parliament for the forthcoming fiscal year (FY) 2019-2020. The approval was given at the 30th meeting of the parliament secretariat commission held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair, said a press release.

The commission also approved the supplementary budget for the current fiscal 2018-19 and projected budgets for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 fiscal years.
The allocation for the national parliament for the upcoming fiscal is Tk 29.6 crore higher than that of the previous fiscal. The revised budget for the current fiscal year was Tk 299.16 crore.

In the budget for fiscal year 2019-20, the deputy secretaries will get interest-free loan to purchase private car. According to the Parliament Secretariat sources, Tk 6 crore has been allocated in this sector. There are 22 officials who are deputy secretaries of the Parliament Secretariat to get this loan, they said. In addition, they get Tk 50,000 for car fuel and other expenses, officials added.

The commission also approved the supplementary budget for the current fiscal 2018-19 and projected budgets for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 fiscal years. Deputy leader of the opposition Raushan Ershad, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque took part in the meeting.

Chief Whip Nur-E-Alam Chowdhury attended the meeting at special invitation. Housing and Public Works Secretary made a pictorial presentation on the renovation of the lake of the Jatiya Sangsad. Senior Secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan, Finance Division Senior Secretary Abdur Rouf Talukder, Housing and Public Works Secretary Md Shahid Ulla Khandaker and officials concerned of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were also present.
